SENIOR ACCOUNT MANAGER - COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE FINANCING  


An exciting opportunity exists to join the Real Estate Division of a Schedule 1 domestic bank.  The primary focus of this role is to originate new construction real estate transactions in addition to managing the ongoing relationship management with existing clients.  The institution focuses on commercial real estate financing deals ranging in size up to $70 MM.  The successful incumbent will have at least 5 years experience within the commercial construction financing industry. This role is based in North Toronto. 


Responsibilities:


  • Proactively develops new loan applications by soliciting both existing and potential clients, including real estate investors, users and intermediaries such as real estate agents and mortgage brokers;
  • Reviews new loan applications to determine their acceptability as investments for the Bank, negotiates loan terms and conditions with the client that meets its needs and provide a secure and profitable investment for the Bank;
  • Gathers relevant information in support of the application and prepares a comprehensive loan submission for presentation to the appropriate approval authorities;
  • Reviews loans approaching maturity to evaluate whether or not they continue to represent acceptable investments for the Bank, prepares the renewal application and submits it for approval, and negotiates repayment or revised terms and conditions for those loans deemed unacceptable;
  • Periodically prepares reviews of existing loans to ensure the continuing security and profitability of the portfolio and submits them for authorization;
  • Periodically inspects the real estate securing the loan portfolio, both existing and under construction, to ascertain the quality of the security;
  • Ensures that assigned loan accounts operate as authorized and takes whatever action is necessary to correct delinquencies or in the case of non-performing loans to enforce the security documentation to ensure the repayment of the loan;
  • Manages client inquiries, changes to loan terms and conditions, and other account management situations that are beyond the authority of the administrative personnel.

Requirements:

  • University Degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years experience in related commercial real estate financing with an established financial institution.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based PC word processing and spreadsheet analysis;
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Advanced written skills.
  • Working knowledge of real estate appraisal techniques and financial statement analysis;
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
